“I can understand myself better and deeper” - workshop participant

“I feel inspired, and not alone in my depression and anxiety,

helping each other and finding a common ground” - workshop participant

Inspired by the themes and methods used to create the performance BALANCING ACTS Kaleido Film Collective and Feral Foxy Ladies have facilitated three film & performance workshops: one in November 2016 and two at Network Theatre as part of VAULT Festival.  The workshops were designed to start new conversations around mental health, share in experiences and stories in a safe environment and to find some creative ways to express those stories.

These workshops offered an opportunity to explore depression and ways of coping through an introduction to different expressive practices such as film and performance. Working collaboratively, participants devised multi-media narratives inspired by the groups conversations and reflections on the topic, learning creative techniques such as drama and video-making skills.

Workshops were open to the public and mental health charity groups.

“Being part of a non judgemental group where open conversation

could take place was empowering”

"It pushed me outside my comfort zone but in a supportive way
that improved my confidence"

“It was very interesting to see how easily and effectively, words, sounds & film

could complement the storytelling and create such a strong message"
